As a community, we’re stronger together. COVID-19 has shown us that while showing up may look different, we’ll continue to find ways to do it. But, we can’t do it alone. Now, more than ever, we need your support. By donating to your local YMCA’s COVID-19 response fund, you’re enabling this important work to continue.

Join us. We’re here for good.

Your support enables us to continue showing up for our communities when they need us most.

Our community need: While busy keeping us safe at their frontline jobs, essential and health care workers need high quality, licensed child care.

How we're responding: We opened four (4) Essential Child Care Centres across our region, allowing our COVID-19 heroes to go to work knowing their children are being cared for in safe and welcoming centres.

Our community need: Youth – especially those at-risk and newcomers – represent a hidden face of this global pandemic. They need safe places to discuss their concerns, get homework help, and deal with the realities of a life in quarantine.

How we're responding: Across our region, we’ve found ways to continue showing up for our youth. From Youth Worker on Call in Cambridge to teenage pregnancy support groups in Guelph, we’re continuing to find ways to build a virtual community of support for our youth.

Our community need: Coming to a new country can be hard – harder still for those who landed in Canada at the start of this global pandemic. They need help accessing services to set them up for success in their new home.

How we're responding: Our Immigrant Services continues to offer support through virtual and phone appointments, helping new Canadians access the supports they need, when they need it.

Our community need: COVID-19 has resulted to increased layoffs and unprecedented numbers of individuals applying for EI or other government support. It’s also changed the job market and application process – which is a lot to navigate alone.

How we're responding: We’ve moved our Employment Services programs online to help job seekers navigate the EI and COVID-19 support systems, perfect their resumes, search for jobs, and prepare for virtual interviews.

Our community need: Quarantine has been tough on many of us – especially among seniors and vulnerable populations who are practicing increased physical distancing measures to keep themselves safe.

How we're responding: Across our region, we’ve been phoning our older adult members to check in and provide support and encouragement. We’ve also arranged a volunteer-based, social-distancing errand service, helping with everything from groceries to grass cutting and anything in between.
